Mermaids, creatures of folklore humans wish to be real, can claim to have been seen off Newfoundland, sited in the waters near Victoria, Canada and even sited 3 times by Christopher Columbus near Haiti while he was exploring the new worlds. Centuries ago and with almost three quarters of the earth covered by water, it is no wonder that humans conjured up images of sea serpents and mermaids. To this day we continue to enjoy stories, dreams and images of the fabled ‘mermaid.’
