Beautiful hand-woven African Baskets are all natural basket made from the local ‘elephant grass’. The grass grows wild and is harvested, dried into straw and then woven by the women of the village. The men tan the goat hides and work the leather onto the handles. They are made in the historic village of Bolgatanga, Ghana. The artisans are mainly farm families who supplement their income by making and selling baskets. The leather covered handles and the tight weave of the African Basket adds to it’s strength.
The Fair Trade African Bolga Basket is perfect for carrying wood for the fireplace, library books, an attractive container for kids toys, farmers markets or trips to the park. The leather covered handle and the tight weave of the African Basket adds to it’s strength.
